Effects of Capsosiphon fulvescens Extracts on Anti-oxidant Activity and anti-inflammatory action

ABSTRACT

Anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects were observed in order to investigate the biological activations of Capsosiphon fulvescens ethanol extracts. No toxicity was found in RAW 264.7 cells exposed to Capsosiphon fulvescens ethanol extracts for 72 hour. The extracts showed non-antioxidant activity in cell-free. but showed significantly antioxidant activity in cell-cultured system. In the cells, it significantly removed silica-induced ROS generation and LPS-induced NO production in a dose dependent manner. This suggests that the Capsosiphon fulvescens ethanol extracts are usable for cosmetic product developments for anti-oxidant and anti-inflammaory effects.
